After 8 years on the shop floor in Pune and Mumbai, I've reviewed dozens of resumes and helped people get into manufacturing roles. The biggest mistake I see is listing job duties instead of actual results. "Responsible for CNC programming" says nothing. "Programmed 12 VMCs for automotive bracket family, reduced cycle time by 18%" โ that gets interviews.
For fresher mechanical engineers, internship projects matter more than you think. Describe the problem, what you did, and the measurable outcome. If your project saved 2 hours of setup time per week, write that. If you reduced scrap from 3% to 1.2%, write that.
The skills section should list software and equipment you've actually used, not aspirations. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA โ list only what you can operate confidently. Recruiters do verify in the technical round.
