📋 State Lateral Entry Exams

  • DLET Maharashtra (DTE Maharashtra)
  • POLYCET Andhra Pradesh / Telangana
  • KCET Lateral Entry (Karnataka)
  • UPSEE Lateral Entry (UP), WBJEE LE
  • Most states: merit-based on Diploma %

🎯 Tips for Lateral Entry

  • Target 65%+ in Diploma for better colleges
  • NITs also have lateral entry (limited seats)
  • Same B.Tech degree recognized everywhere
  • Can also sit for GATE after B.Tech

💡 Diploma + Lateral Entry = Smart Strategy

Many successful engineers follow this path: 10th → Diploma (3 yr, job + experience) → Lateral B.Tech (3 yr) = Total 6 years to B.Tech instead of 6 (12th + B.Tech). You get real industry experience PLUS a degree. Companies value this combination highly.

💡 Vaibhav's Advice (from 8 years in the field): If you love studying and scored well in 10th, go for the 12th → JEE route — better brand name opens doors faster. But if you want practical skills and a real engineering career without the pressure of JEE, the Diploma path is absolutely legitimate and respected. Both paths produce excellent engineers. What matters most is your skill, not just your degree.
