Hi, I'm Vaibhav Dhokpande, a Mechanical Design Engineer from Pune with over 8 years of experience in fixture design, sheet metal, and tooling for MNC companies.
I'm not a professional developer. I'm an engineer who codes on the side, and that's exactly why I built this.
Here's the real reason TaskJunction exists:
During my daily work, I constantly needed quick calculators, pneumatic cylinder forces, gear ratios, GD&T true position, sheet metal bend allowances. Every time I searched online, I either landed on a cluttered website full of ads, or a tool that asked me to sign up before I could use it. Some didn't even work on mobile. It was frustrating.
So one day in February 2026, I just started building. One calculator. Then another. Then I couldn't stop.
I wanted a single place, clean, fast, no login, no nonsense, where engineers and students could open a tool and just use it. No account. No subscription. No data collection. Just tools that work.
That's TaskJunction.
What started as a few basic calculators has grown into 55+ free tools focused on mechanical design — pneumatics, drives, sheet metal, GD&T, heat transfer, safety factors, plus a formula sheet and handy utilities. Every tool is built from real engineering needs, not guesswork. I personally use most of them in my own work.
I build this in my spare time, after work hours, because I genuinely believe that good tools should be free and accessible to everyone, whether you're a student preparing for GATE or a working engineer on the production floor.
If a tool has helped you even once, that's enough for me.

Complete roadmap after 10th — 12th Science path & Diploma path with all exams, eligibility & career options. Built for students planning their engineering journey.
After 10th standard, you have two main routes to become a Mechanical Engineer. Choose your path:
Go through 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths), then crack JEE or State CET to get into B.Tech Mechanical Engineering.
Do a 3-year Polytechnic Diploma after 10th, then enter directly into 2nd year B.Tech via Lateral Entry.
Start strengthening Maths and Physics from 9th itself. Algebra, Trigonometry, Newton's Laws are directly used in JEE and engineering curriculum.
Start JEE coaching from 11th itself — Aakash, Allen, Physics Wallah, or self-study with NCERT + PYQs. Many students prepare simultaneously in 11th-12th.
20 MCQs (4 marks, -1 penalty) + 5 numerical (4 marks, no penalty) per section. Best of 2 sessions counts for rankings.
Internships from 2nd year. Learn CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA). Join SAE/ASME student chapters. GATE coaching from 3rd year if planning M.Tech or PSU jobs.
MCQ + MSQ + NAT questions. Score valid 3 years. PSUs like BHEL, IOCL recruit directly via GATE — no separate written test!
Production, Quality, Tooling at MNC companies — Tata, Mahindra, Bosch, Toyota, Siemens, L&T.
₹4–12 LPAISRO, DRDO, HAL, BEL — via GATE + interview. High prestige, job security, research work.
₹8–18 LPABHEL, ONGC, IOCL, GAIL — via GATE score. Best salary + perks + job security in India.
₹8–15 LPAPursue M.Tech at IIT/NIT with GATE score. Specialise in Robotics, Thermal, Fluids, Manufacturing.
₹12–35 LPA after M.TechHigh demand post EV revolution — Tata Motors, Ola Electric, Mahindra EV, Maruti, Bajaj.
₹5–20 LPAUPSC ESE (Engineering Services), SSC JE — for those who prefer government stability.
₹7–12 LPA + perksGovt. polytechnics have the best workshop labs, industry tie-ups, and affordable fees (₹5,000–25,000/year). Practical skills matter more than marks here.
Paper I: General Intelligence + Technical (Mech). Paper II: descriptive technical. Syllabus covers Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Theory of Machines — all diploma level topics.
10th → Diploma (3yr, job + experience) → Lateral B.Tech (3yr) = 6 years to B.Tech with real industry experience. Companies value this combination highly.
CNC operation, production planning, quality inspection at MSME and large MNCs.
₹2.5–6 LPASSC JE, State JE — stable govt. job. Railways, PWD, BRO, Defence. Best long-term choice for many.
₹4–8 LPA + perksPlant maintenance, preventive maintenance, breakdown repair. High demand across all industries.
₹3–7 LPAJump to 2nd year B.Tech. Unlock all B.Tech career options + PSU/GATE while having hands-on experience edge.
₹5–18 LPA after B.TechAutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA technical drawing roles. Remote work possible with strong skills.
₹2.5–5 LPAStart your own fabrication, CNC machining, or maintenance business. Diploma engineers thrive as independent contractors.
Unlimited potentialBoth paths lead to Mechanical Engineering. Here's a side-by-side comparison to help you decide.
| Factor | 📘 12th Science → B.Tech | 📋 Diploma → Lateral B.Tech |
|---|---|---|
| Total Duration | 6 years (12th 2yr + B.Tech 4yr) | 6 years (Diploma 3yr + Lateral 3yr) or just 3yr if only job |
| Min Eligibility | 10th with Science & Maths, 60%+ | 10th with any subjects, 45%+ |
| Main Entrance | JEE Main / State CET | Polytechnic CET / Merit-based |
| IIT/NIT Eligibility | ✓ Yes via JEE Advanced | ✗ No (NITs limited lateral seats) |
| Govt. JE Jobs | ✓ After B.Tech | ✓ Directly after Diploma |
| GATE Eligibility | ✓ After B.Tech | ✓ After Lateral B.Tech |
| PSU Jobs | ✓ Via GATE score | ✓ Via GATE after lateral B.Tech |
| Practical Skills | Medium (academic focus) | ✓ High — workshop from day 1 |
| Starting Salary | ₹3.5–12 LPA (varies by college) | ₹2–5 LPA (diploma), ₹4–10 LPA (after lateral) |
| Career Ceiling | Same — both paths reach the same heights | |
